If Biden was inciting insurrection, then I'd have no problem with him being banned.
What if there was a case for insurrection? Let’s say Trump got in and went full on dictator, He could theoretically ban Twitter from banning him, or any other country with dictators.

Revolt against an unconstitutional dictatorship is not illegal and therefore not insurrection.

Fair enough, I agree but that does depend on the interpretation of the constitution.

Suits their far right agenda!
This is the usual insanity here. Not only is the idea, I’m, problematic, many people with at least half-a-Brian wanted to laugh rather than cry.

This is completely unenforceable. Facebook is not a Polish company, nor are any of their servers based in Poland.

If Poland want to remove content from their servers, there’s nothing the Polish government (and, if you follow the story, this would be implemented and controlled by a politically chosen group, and not the judiciary) could do about it.

Another case where the Polish government would look like incompetent neo-Nazis on the international stage. Bigoted and a bit thick.

I didn’t think it was enforceable but just shows what some politicians would pull if they could get away with it.

Edit:

Twitter suspends hundreds of Indian accounts after government demand
It appears it is enforceable in India, incitement to hatred is the reason given.

Twitter statement on “country-withheld content” said suspensions of accounts or content was routine, arguing “many countries have laws that may apply to tweets and Twitter account content”.

This just totally sums up social media / facebook .. and the short attention span and not reading properly what you are replying too. Its the same case with a post on FB of say a newspaper headline .. vast majority don't click on and read the article before comment, they just read the headline and then give an "expert" comment. Fcking annoying as hell :D .. but sad also as it sort of shows the state of the human race.

Not just toddlers it seems?

Toddlers who frequently play on tablets or phones are at a higher risk of problems such as hyperactivity, poor concentration and friendship issues, a new study suggests.

After this MASSIVE Data Leak from FACEBOOK .. its huge. The global dataset of 530m Facebook accounts— including up to 1.5m Irish accounts—came to be leaked and shared.

Here is how to check your mobile phone number to see if your data and phone number have been compromised.

You can now go to https://haveibeenpwned.com and check your PHONE NUMBER as well as in the past your email address.

Use eg 353875555555 .. replace with your number to check.

I HAVE been pwned :(

This is notably the second time the microblogging website is experiencing issues today. This might just be one of the longest service errors in recent social media history.

Noticed this today .. whirling cursor, no content, login issues. Though mainly confined to desktop versions earlier seems to be spreading to mobile apps now too

As my dad would say if he was still around, 'f---k the loss'.

Always a good laugh at riling up the mob :D

While the mob are proving to be very productive in promoting us, we do need their efficiency levels to be increased somewhat. Some of them have been slacking recently. We’re happy to view this as a mere aberration and we very much appreciate all their hard work all the same.

I see boards.ie is in some trouble after rolling out a disastrous update, the comments over there are something else. Never really used it much but handy for some niche info. A new site called gubu has been set up, and might well be a bit more like this place, when compared to the quare place p****.ie

I found their moderation very heavy handed, so left.

I wonder IPO should stretch out a hand to offer verifying that users are who they say they are..

I noticed a tweet last night from someone I respect, suggesting that people should switch to gubu.ie from boards.ie.

I never used boards.ie as a place for discussion, just for exchange of information.

Honestly for discussion, this place is more or less perfect with the core posters, certainly the size of the place here seems very manageable.

Boards was/will be great for specialist topics. Any daft hobby you might have it's likely that boards has multiple threads on most aspects of it.

It has been losing posters in the last year as many posters have migrated to other formats. That is a pity because it can leave the place looking like a shell and if your interests have only one or two posters a day posting on them then the law of diminishing returns applies.

100% agree tbh

Meanwhile FB are removing post from the Fans of Luke Kelly group pages, in the basis that they do not comply with"community standards". The posts in question contain the words of Luke's poem "For what died the sons of Roisin".

Even trying to be hyper critical of that poem, it's hard to find anything bar some bit of xenophobia. And even then, it has to be read in the context of the time it was written.

Would not agree with all the sentiments therein, whilst agreeing strongly with others, but it's fair political comment.

Weird.

Would it just have been copyright issues? Was it the whole thing.?

That does sound more plausible. Copyright runs for 70 years after the author's death.

Or rabid Europhiles.
Someone has just posted the complete poem again, awaiting another attack of the algorithms/bots.

It seems other songs have been removed, now there is a concentrated effort, led funnily enough by the European fans, to keep posting until they gat a response to their questions from FB.

I foresee multiple bans and possibly FB closing the group.
