To cut down on abusive posts and threads from being created we have adopted a new procedure for those joining the site.

We do not want to prevent anyone from the ability to post or creating a thread, this is why we have not introduced a rule that requires 50 or so posts before you can create a thread. Our procedure is much simpler.

Any poster joining the site or who has less than 25 posts will have any post or thread they make sent for approval to the moderation team.

If your thread/post does not meet the requirements of the site it will be not approved, you may be asked to make adjustments to it to help make it suitable for the site.

This will help with ensuring all new members are aware of the rules of the site surrounding what is acceptable to post. Hopefully, it will ensure less trolling and abusive threads/posts.

Once you have reached 25 posts or more the site will upgrade you to a full member where the restrictions will be removed, you will then have a Green Membership bar underneath your name.

Those without green bars and more than 25 posts will not be awarded them the site software until they log back on, where the process will be automatic.

Whilst I get the reason for this measure - I think it will be viewed as patronising, condescending and a massive turn off for new users.

I would urge you to reconsider this for the site's sake. I've never encountered anything as draconian and belittling as this. By all means limit thread creation and even forum access but 25 posts, personally moderated is insane.

It's been much more beneficial than you could ever imagine.

No idea, but since most posts are approved pretty rapidly, it's likely had no effect. In fact you're the first to mention it.
Maybe I am one of the few that stuck around since it came in. I had no idea it was in place initially, I just assumed the site was tragically slow at times. Not a great advertisement either.

I'd say we've got most over from p.ie after the crash. Anyone who didn't come then is unlikely to come now.
I miss many of the P.iesters, even the ones I totally disagree with. Okay, maybe not ALL the ones I disagreed with, but some.

That's probably why my posts aren't going through and my thread was moved to the Zoo. Maybe there could be a sub forum other than the Zoo where a Christian thread can go? I can speak to American politics as well so maybe I'll look for that category to build up some posts. BTW, my debit card issues were NOT fro my donation here. Somehow my bank card and my paypal business debit card were compromised but it was not from this forum as I first suspected.

So how did " cookie bitch" manage to post his/her thread, " let's take a journey" , last night?
I haven't slept a wink since I stumbled over it in a half awake state at one in the morning.
My heart is still racing.

I saw it too - a rather pathetic post imo - and wondered how it was possible?

Luckily it was zapped by the mods fairly quickly.

I am still wondering how that got posted.
I am pleased it has been dealt with.
There seems to be no trace of that poster on site now and I have no recollection of seeing anything from it before?
Have you?

No - I noted last night that the poster had just joined the site about 30 minutes before that post - I think it was its only post?

Not a very successful one.

What was it about, in general terms?

So has the 25 post monitored period been discarded?
I'm far from a techie in this area but could a sock account somehow get around the software if it read the same IP address as a poster with more than 25 posts ...?

Dunno, it's about not letting it happen again.
Anyone on the “other sites” bragging about having done it?

in the past (the first couple of weeks of IPO being open for business), there was quite a bit of porn-spamming, and certain posters on pish being pretty open about taking credit for it (whether it was really was them or not).

Not the sharpest knives in the drawer.
